Normand Spinard is a long time scence fiction writer, radio host and vocalist. He’s a smart guy with lot’s to say. Today he posted this on the SWFA website.
I don’t have too much to add except to point out a couple of things:
One: I think he’s absolutely correct that in future, ebooks will allow publishing houses to dedicate more resources to mid list writers as best selling authors fly the coop. It’s not like paper books are going away but in the future, best selling authors will make more self publishing ebooks than ink on paper editions.
Two: he gets the terminology correct. He calls it traditional publishing, not traditional publishers. One is the correct term, the other a term coined by vanity press PublishAmerica and endlessly repeated by their authors.
